Our Guardrail Safety CEU is LIVE
We are excited to announce that our AIA Certified Continued Education (CEU) Course on Guardrail Safety is officially LIVE! But what is the course all about? Its about TRUST
As Architects, you are entrusted with ensuring the safety and well-being of those who inhabit the space you design. While guardrails may appear simple, this course explains the essential details that ensure their safety and effectiveness. This CEU course will explore the following:
Understanding Guardrail Safety Standards
We’ll decode the International Building Code (IBC) requirements for guardrails. This will cover location, height, opening limitations, and load capacity.
Manufacturing Considerations for Safety
We’ll explore the advantages and disadvantages of welded vs. fastened connections. We will also delve into the science of galvanic corrosion and its impact on guardrail integrity. Lastly we will discuss quality control measures to ensure welds meet industry standards.
Beyond Code: Additional Safety Considerations
We’ll address factors like material longevity and the “ladder effect” to promote thoughtful design that goes beyond the minimum code requirements.
By the end of this CEU course, participants will be able to:
- Explain the role of quality control measures in ensuring safe and reliable guardrail welds.
- Analyze the concept of “ladder effect” and its relevance to guardrail design.
- Integrate these considerations into their design process to create safer and more trustworthy guardrail systems.
